Terri Schiavo

Terri Schiavo is a living breathing human being. Some have called her a “vegetable” but as you can see from the photo below, Terri reacts to her mother. Terri breathes on her own. Terri’s Mom and Dad are offended when their daughter is called a vegetable. She is NOT in a coma. She is NOT in a persistent vegetative state. Terri is a severely disabled American.

Terri suffered brain damage about ten years ago and receives nourishment by means of a feeding tube. Terri’s “husband”, Michael Schiavo, received a huge cash settlement that was supposed to be used for Terri’s rehabilitation and care.

Unfortunately, Michael Schiavo has used about half of the cash settlement to pay for lawyers to try and get permission from the courts to have Terri’s feeding tube removed. Terri’s distraught parents, naturally, have fought him every step of the way. Terri’s mother and father love their daughter and want her to live.

In 2003, Michael Schiavo and his high-paid attorneys, with help from Florida courts, got permission to remove Terri’s feeding tube and for SIX DAYS Terri was deprived of food and water. SIX DAYS!! Thank God for Governor Jeb Bush and the Florida Legislature who intervened and passed a law to help Terri. Terri’s feeding tube was reinserted and she slowly recovered from the attempted starvation and dehydration. (By the way, it is against the law to withhold food and water from farm animals.)

Pro life activists across the world are in shock!! The anti life forces were frighteningly close to achieving their goal – getting rid of people they deem unworthy to exist.

As of March 2004, the struggle for Terri’s life continues. Terri’s “husband” and his lawyers still want her dead. Terri’s family wants her to live. Central Valley Right to Life will use its resources, time, talent to inform the public and to plead with legislators to fight for Terri’s right to life and the right to life of all vulnerable human beings.
